A Brief History of Gloverall

Gloverall are a company which have a hand in something of a fashion icon; the duffle coat. Founded back in 1950 by Freda Morris and her late husband Harold decided to get involved in post war clothes manufacturing. It wasn't long before the name Gloverall was dreamed up by Harold and the company began creating hard-wearing garments here in the United Kingdom. However, it was their ties to the duffle coat which would see the Gloverall brand become a household name.

Popular amongst all sorts of counter-culture groups and scenes, the duffle coat has become something of a symbol for the Gloverall brand and this is no bad thing of course. To this day, the Gloverall brand is still creating exceptional quality coats and jackets and each has a historical link to those first few hard-wearing and yet oddly beatnik-friendly coats which first gave the Gloverall brand it's big break in the industry.
