A Brief History of Clarks Originals

Whilst many of us will no doubt already be familiar with the Clarks Originals name, the history of this much loved brand might not be quite so well known by many. This United Kingdom based company is often perceived as being one of the biggest names in footwear in the modern fashion world, but their origins are actually much more humble than you might have thought. Originally conceived by two Quaker brothers from the Somerset town of Street, Cyrus and James Clark, the Clarks Originals brand started life in the shoe industry and yet, today, there are over a thousand stores worldwide.

The Clarks Originals brand was still creating their fabulous footwear in Somerset until 2005 but even though the first shoes were created under the Clarks name back in 1825, this is still very much a brand with a reputation that speaks volumes. Even celebrities like Dizzee Rascal, Robbie Williams and Bob Dylan have been spotted wearing Clarks Originals items, and this only helps increase the popularity of this British institution.
