Oliver Sweeney shoes and brogues have been available on Mainline Menswear since early 2012, and since their introduction we have seen a real smartening up of shoes and footwear amongst the customers on the website. Granted these shoes aren’t in the same bracket as the bestsellers Nike, Adidas Originals and Lacoste however with Oliver Sweeney you really do get what you’ve paid for – and you pay for total quality from a British craftsman and his hugely talented team. We have just added six new styles of brogues and shoes to the website ranging in price from £135 through to £275 which looking back over previous seasons is about the price that you would expect to pay for some of the UK’s finest.
Back in March we looked at How To Appreciate Oliver Sweeney Shoes More whereas this time we’ll simply be looking at the six brand new styles and shoes and picking out their technical features – those same design quirks and styling that make the shoes as sought after as they are. We’ve reviewed each shoe below, or if you’re not the reading sort then check out the pictures at the bottom of the page.
Autumn 2013 Styles
Oliver Sweeney Reydon Shoes in Tan – The lowest priced of the five styles at £135 the Reydon shoes are a great basic shoe for the office or for matching with your suit if plain or basic is your thing. The tan brown high quality pass leather uppers and blake stitch construction ensure that they’re both hardwearing and comfortable. Brown two hole lace fastening with blue trim on the tongue adds a small amount of detailing to the shoes, while the squared off toes are perfect for the wider foot.
Author’s Recommendation! Oliver Sweeney Tunstall Brogue in Light Tan – Priced at £225 these shoes are getting towards the higher end but still sit nearer the £200 mark. These beautiful goodyear welt constructed brogues are made from a light tan pass leather and feature an indigo blue denim patch just underneath the ankles on the shoe. Fairly plain wingtip broguing on the front allows the attention to be paid to the denim patches. Perfect for the smarter dressed guy who wants to make a big impression.
Oliver Sweeney Picolit Oxford Brogues in Brown or Black – These fairly standard looking brogues are priced at £275 and will really smarten up that suit or outfit. Made from hi shine Carli leather these beautiful Oxford brogues feature intricate broguing and gimping throughout the sides and toe panel as well as a striking yellow or red tongue depending on whether you buy the brown or black versions.
Oliver Sweeney Holman Shoes in Brown – Again priced at £275 the Holman apron lace up shoes are made from a rather formal looking golf leather with black stitching and intricate kangaroo piping. Another great smart shoe that provides comfort and quality without that extra ‘look at me’ factor. Brown two hole lacing on the tongue as well as Oliver Sweeney branding on the heel.
Oliver Sweeney Bushnell Shoes in Brown Lizard – Priced at £275 these shoes are the higher end of the price scale for Oliver Sweeney, but you are getting a high quality leather slip on with a lizard print design throughout. Piped edges with blake stitching keep the comfort high while the wider sole unit and elasticated top panel allow for the shoe to slip on and remain in place.
These shoes are set to be added to in the coming weeks and months, but one thing is assured – if you want a quality pair of shoes that will provide comfort and last for a long long while (not to mention can be repaired easily) then Oliver Sweeney is the brand for you.
