STONE ISLAND MESH REFLECTIVE JACKET – REVIEW

Written by: Kimberley Sandford | November 11, 2013.

Stone Island is a company known for being leaders in innovation when it comes to fabrics.

On those cold winter nights, on the way home from work, after a night on the town or on the way to see the partner, it’s great to eliminate any danger from car drivers or bikers, which is why we really love the Stone Island reflective jacket. This jacket really does tick all the boxes. It’s extremely warm, its waterproof, its reflective and it’s wind resistant. What more could you ask for? And yes, it looks great as well!  The historical reflective jacket is made from highly refractive material owing to a coating made of thousands of glass microspheres layered on the outer side with an industrial feel nylon run proof mesh which enhances the refracting qualities of the internal fabric creating optical and three dimensional effects.

This jacket really does sport an incredible coupling of the latest fashion technology with style! Which is why we cannot award it any less than 5 stars!

For those of you who really want to indulge in the science of this jacket then this video is not to be missed!

The technical stuff

As this is no ordinary jacket, it is crucial to educate you into the complex technicalities of the jacket. The coating of the Reflective material makes the piece water and wind resistant with a down filling to achieve optimal thermal insulation. Full zip and overlapping press stud fastening with a large padded hood that has a peak. Two pockets on the mid waist with press stud fastening and two zip fastening pockets on the waist. The signature detachable black felt patch holding the embroidered Stone Island Compass Rose logo badge is attached to the upper half of the left sleeve in cream and white with black Stone Island logo embossed buttons. Secondary interior ribbed cuffs in black with an adjustable draw string waistband. Outer 44% textile glass, 33% polyurethane and 23% polyester, lining is 100% cotton and padding is 90% duck down feather and 10% feather.
