Hugo BOSS is a heavyweight brand in men’s fashion and it’s no coincidence that it boasts one of the most popular and extensive designer collections online at Mainline Menswear.

The trouble with a brand that has so many collections each season is knowing which one reflects your style the best. At Mainline Menswear, three separate labels make up the collection: Black, Orange and Green. So to help you realise the characteristics, below you’ll discover a trademark look for each based on this season’s new items.

From day one, BOSS has and still is based at its humble home of Metzingen, a small town close to Stuttgart. The core brand itself is epitomized by understated luxury, specializing in modern business, evening, casual and sports clothing; always made using fine fabrics and by maintaining strict attention to detail. Shoes and accessories complete the collection which has enough depth to cover every man’s needs.

Hugo BOSS Black is the most extensive collection in terms of volume of products each season and also in the broadness of style it encompasses; it is also the best-selling. Key characteristics of the line include simplicity, refinement or in their own words “premium, modern and sophisticated”. Useful for working, casual, formal or social settings, it is fair to say Black is an eclectic range which might include anything from t-shirts and jeans, to refined suits, accessories or footwear. One thing they all have in common is a clean, stylish look which is no doubt a result of the classic Hugo BOSS tailoring. Incepted in 1970, 46 years after the company was first formed, this is still very much seen as the flagship label from both inside and outside the brand.

BOSS Green was initially released as a golfer’s sub-label to offer performance clothing to players of all levels who would take an interest in their style on the course. The success of the label which uses top European golfers Martin Kaymer and Henrik Stenson as its faces has expanded to the point that in actual fact it now caters for most leisure activities. As a result Hugo BOSS Green is now widely considered as the designer label of choice for those looking for performance and style in equal measure.

Lewis Hamilton – A Face of Hugo BOSS

Hugo BOSS is renowned for celebrity endorsements and big commercial campaigns, in years gone by they’ve used the likes of David Beckham, Ryan Reynolds and Gerard Butler for their fragrance ads alone.

Sponsorship activities on the clothing lines though, mainly revolves around sport and in particular golf, sailing, motor racing and football- for reasons the label describes as “to ideally convey brand values such as dynamism, perfection and precision”.

One such star is Britain’s Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton who drives for the brand’s native team, Mercedes. The driver- who is on course to become one of the greatest British drivers of all time- has recently filmed an exclusive video for the brand prior to the Chinese Grand Prix which he won.
