Hugo BOSS Green Jacket: Review

Written by: Robert Charlton | September 3, 2015.

As September arrives we can officially recognize it is the start of the autumn season and the vast majority of AW15 fashion lines are now online at Mainline Menswear which – as always – sees the arrival of more substantial clothing such as jumpers, coats and jackets.

One such arrival is from Hugo BOSS, who have released a new technical jacket for the AW15 season under the Green label, find out about the limited edition piece and its unique features in our latest product review:

We all know we need a solid winter coat to guide us through the colder season but the trouble comes in selecting one. The choices are endless from light rain coats, heavy parkas to fashionable bombers – the options quite often seem endless. However the new Jelsma jacket from the Hugo BOSS Green label is a perfect example of a coat that mixes all of these attributes.

Stylish and technical, the new limited edition Jelsma jacket is available at a very small selection of retailers and has a unique 2 coats in 1 design, allowing you to wear it three different ways – a look for almost any occasion.

Hugo BOSS Green is by nature a sporty label having originally been a formed as a Hugo BOSS golfing collection before eventually becoming more generalised. The label now incorporates more of a fashion element to its designs but mainly their outerwear has a performance and technical element to it.

Aesthetically the Jelsma jacket is quite neutral with a charcoal grey exterior and jet black inner. It has a removable zip hood as well as a number of large front pockets, sporty accents and trims to finish.

Undoubtedly the most notable feature is the puffa style inner jacket which can be zipped into the more substantial outer jacket. Together, they offer complete insulation and comfort without compromising style.

The German label is well known for creating timeless, elegant designs – a skill they have refined in nearly a century of experience in the industry, earning them an internationally renowned reputation. Today the overall brand is sub-divided into a handful off off-shoot labels including Black, Orange and Green among others, and the Green label use pro golfer Martin Kaymer as the face of their brand – which emphasises their focus on sport and performance.

The Look

Being the substantial jacket that it is, the Jelsma jacket lends itself perfectly to pairing with chunky boots such as those by Red Wing. Not forgetting the sporty and technical feel the jacket, a pair of luxury joggers, or else some other lightweight clothing could be used to great effect alongside it.

Verdict

At £580 you could buy a luxury winter coat that is fit for any occasion and ultimately ready to wear with anything you like. Made of high quality materials by a brand everybody knows and can trust, it’s needless to say this jacket can last the wearer for many winters to come.
