drapers footwear awardsDrapers is a well-respected UK business-to-business publication which covers fashion retail, their awards have been running since 1990 and they are attended by some of the biggest suppliers, brands and retailers in the country.

The awards cover 16 categories varying from Best Innovation in Footwear to Footwear Designer of the Year and Men’s Fashion Brand of the Year.

Two of the brand’s lucky enough to scoop big prizes on the night included Ted Baker and Timberland, both of whom have footwear available online at Mainline Menswear.

Timberland took home the award for Mainstream Men’s Footwear Brand of the Year, an award which goes to the brand operating best in the UK market in terms of brand ethos, innovative and useful product and overall solid sales.

Ted Baker had a night to remember, winning Men’s Fashion Brand of the Year as well as International Business of the Year. The latter of the two awards is given to the UK brand which has done the most to enhance the reputation of British excellence in the export marker, while Men’s Fashion Brand of the Year recognizes their continued high standards in men’s footwear for which they have developed a strong niche in over the years.

Timberland is of course best known for the iconic yellow worker boot, but over time it has also become a staple of men’s casual clothing too. The American firm has grown and developed an international fan base, accommodating an eclectic range of styles today such as boat shoes, hiker boots, chukka boots and slip-ons/driving shoes among others. Such a broad portfolio makes them one of the most prominent men’s footwear brands on the market.

As for Ted Baker, the brand has seen an incredible rise to reach the level they’re at today. Started in Glasgow at the back end of the 80s by founder and CEO Ray Kelvin, the stores steadily multiplied around the UK and they eventually re-branded as Ted Baker London to began a move into international markets.

Best-known for a formal style, Ted Baker continues to excel in leather shoes and brogues but also sells high quality casual boots in suede or leather and for summer you can even find sandals and flip flops.
