New adidas Superstar Collection

Written by Robert | 09/03/2015

adidas Superstars took the world of fashion by storm in the 80s and they’ve appealed to collectors and footwear aficionados for many years since too. This Spring the brand has released a special new Superstar range of shoes and clothing to celebrate the legacy of one of their most popular shoes, which has seen a dramatic surge in popularity of late.

Released in 1969, Superstars quickly became a favourite with famous basketball players of the time such as Kareem Adbul Jabbar and later Hip Hop artists like Run DMC. Icons like these helped spark a huge interest in the trainers from regular people and it wasn’t long before they had become intertwined with the world of fashion too.

Lately, Pharrell Williams has collaborated for a special Superstars collection with vibrant new colourways, and that campaign has coincided with the vintage trainer’s fashionable resurgence and a wealth of brand new original designs. Similar to the Stan Smith, Superstar has a minimalistic appearance and first captivated audiences across the pond in North America before extending to the rest of the world.

Superstar 80s “Metal Gold”  is the brand new limited edition take on the retro silhouette and comes with a “gold foil” finish which is bold and high in quality. Mainline Menswear is one of just a small number of retailers who are selling this rare design.

adidas have also re-worked the Superstar model to include an all-white and all-black version, a  design which can effortlessly integrate with a variety of outfits, as well as introducing further cream colourways.

The new Superstars collection is rounded off with a selection of jogging bottoms and varsity style track tops in a choice of 5 colours, each of them have a retro image similar to that of the 1980s when this style was at its peak.

If you’re an avid fan of the Superstars or adidas footwear in general, you’ll be pleased to hear you could be in with a chance of winning a year’s supply of their revered trainers. In total you could win 12 pairs of any adidas trainers in the current Mainline Menswear range in any colour or style of your choice. All you have to do is enter here, but act quickly because there’s only a week left!
