Winter is well and truly upon us. It’s time to lay on the layers – suddenly Jon Snow doesn’t look so ridiculous in his fur lined coats.
But you don’t have to drape yourself in furs to stay warm this year, as there are plenty of stylish and snug coats on offer for you to choose from.
For starters, quilted jackets are a lighter choice. Not weighing as much as other coats but still providing ample warmth for the wearer, puffer jackets such as this one from Barbour International or this one from Superdry can stop you from feeling the cold while still being easy to carry around once you’re inside again.
There are sleeker designs on offer, such as this Barbour quilted coat, which may better suit more formal occasions.
If you’re looking for something a little more stylish and don’t mind the weight which comes with it, you can’t go wrong with a timeless wool coat, such as this one from Paul Smith.
Though not ideal for wetter winter days, a wool coat will certainly keep a chill wind at bay, especially when paired with a scarf and gloves.
Finally, if you want something which works well as part of a layered outfit, why not try a denim jacket? Although not appropriate on its own, denim jackets such as this trucker coat from Levis look great with layered shirts.
An outfit styled in this way also allows for you to remove items when necessary; you can stay warm when outside, and strip down to stay cool inside.
