Men’s Summer Denim Guide
Summer is just around the corner and with it, new fashion trends. One trend that always makes a comeback every year is denim. Easy and comfortable to wear, very versatile to style and it only gets better the more you wear it.
This season high end designers are paying homage and rediscovering denim’s potential and creating pieces in endless washes and finishes.
You may think you’ve already mastered denim, but here’s a few tips on how to up your game.
The Denim Jacket
The denim jacket – a wardrobe staple which will never go out of style. Matching a denim jacket with the same wash jeans or with a pair of tailored trousers is an absolute no go.
Keep it contemporary with a pair of skinny jeans or chinos, a plain white tee and throw your denim jacket over the top – your go-to casual spring/summer look. If you were worried about how to wear a denim jacket, don’t be. They are versatile and easygoing.
Denim Shorts/Jorts (jean shorts)
Denim shorts are extremely casual and a staple in a man’s summer wardrobe and have become increasingly popular recently. Although denim shorts are a relaxed piece, the more fitted the better – too baggy can look sloppy.
Go for a pair of denim shorts with a turned up hem (or turn them up yourself) for a fresher, trendier look. When paired with a short-sleeved shirt, you can create a laid back, yet put-together look – perfect for a summer holiday.
Denim shirts are a modern way to dress up your more casual outfits. Find the right colour, style and fit and the opportunities will be endless. They’re perfect for preppy looks, especially if you opt for lighter wash denim – you can pair it with various pieces you already have in your wardrobe.
We recommend pairing your denim shirt with chino shorts and boat shoes for a put-together summer look. If your style is more laid back, try wearing a striped t-shirt underneath and keep the shirt open.
In summer, you want to keep your denim light – especially your jeans. Light blue jeans will go with almost any colour in your wardrobe making them one of the most versatile pieces a man can own. Due to typical British weather, opting for jeans in summer is always a good idea – you never know when the heavens will open.
To keep the outfit casual, go for distressed jeans then pair them with a plain t-shirt and a light bomber jacket. Now you have a look that will see you through the day to night.
