Job Overview
As Manager, you are responsible for a vital part of the stock lifecycle across the Goods In, Stock Control and Nights teams. You will manage people, processes and systems in order to ensure goods are received and stored appropriately, and the expected productivity targets are met. (This can include being contactable out of hours in certain circumstances or situations).
Whilst overseeing logistics of receiving and warehousing operations, you will empower Team Leaders to manage staff, build strong teams and enable team members to meet high levels of productivity and performance. This will involve delivering regular feedback, mentoring and supporting Team Leaders.
You will utilise automated and computerised systems to access and analyse real-time data to ensure maximum efficiency. This in turn will assist you in supporting the Operations Manager to meet departmental and business objectives.
Responsibilities within this role include (not limited to):
- Managing and leading staff in line with business, departmental and personal targets
- Overall responsibility in managing performance, and working with Team Leaders on initiatives to improve areas where performance is below expectation
- Encourage and where applicable facilitate the development of departments staff through training and mentoring. This includes overseeing thorough and detailed inductions for new team members and prioritising continual personal development
- Reporting monthly on KPI outcomes and work with Team Leaders to set their KPI’s and objectives in line with operational goals
- Working with Team Leaders in setting their KPI’s and objectives in line with operational goals
- Development, review and maintenance of H&S and risk management documentation
- Monitor all absence and attendance across the function and report weekly on appropriate actions planned or taken (where applicable)
- Manage departmental HR related activities including (not limited to) recruitment and induction, investigation and disciplinary
- Develop, deliver, and monitor standards and performance documentation in line with SOPs
- Take responsibility for rota coordination, when required, in line with company practices
- Contribute to relevant meetings to formulate department targets and objectives
- Cross departmental liaison to improve and maintain efficiencies across the operation
- Coordinate and monitor stock, ensuring that goods flow safely, smoothly and consistently throughout the warehouse
- Have a clear understanding of the Company’s policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these
- Any other reasonable request as directed by the Operations Manager
Personal Specification
Essential:
- Strength of character and strong confidence
- Excellent communication skills
- Detail orientated and analytical
- Demonstratable experience in a leadership role for a minimum of 2 years
- Exceptional time management
- Excellent problem solver and able to prioritise tasks
- Honest and loyal
- Proven experience in delivering training
- Knowledge of HR policies and best practice
- Ability to be flexible with rota hours, where required to meet business need
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety
Desirable:
- Ability to produce and present data in various Microsoft formats
- Previous experience of stock movement practices
- Ambition to progress within the company
- Creative thinker
- Good negotiation skills
