Asics Kayano vs. Adidas ZX Flux vs. Nike Roshe
Finding a pair of fashionable, lightweight trainers can be a struggle due to how many trainers are available these days. If you want a pair of trainers that look good, but are also suitable for sport, it’s even harder.
Mainline Menswear has shortlisted three trainers that we think fit into both categories. To allow you to go from a run to the runway, you need certain traits in your trainers. The grip, body and appearance are all equally important, but don’t panic, one of these three should meet your requirements.
Asics Kayano
Asics are known for producing the highest quality sports trainers. The company was created in 1977, built on top of the Onitsuka brand. From the beginning they focused on running shoes, and wanted to promote a healthy sporting image to accompany their brand. This is how Asics got its name, as an acronym of “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano”. This means “a sound mind in a sound body” and is a mantra Asics still use today.
Asics Kayano is one of the most recent launches from the company; providing high-tech running shoes which are also fashionable for everyday wear. The gel sole provides comfort and cushioning for your run, but is also very fashionable. The body of the shoe comes in many different colours and designs, so you can find a style that suits you.
Overall, these trainers are probably more towards the sport end of the spectrum rather than the fashion end. But this doesn’t mean they don’t look good. If you need a pair of trainers that are primarily for sport, but still want to wear something stylish and eye-catching – Asics Kayano are for you.
Adidas ZX Flux
Adidas has been at the forefront of sports technology since its establishment in 1949. Created by Adi Dassler in the small German town of Herzogenaurach, the Adidas brand with its famous three stripe logo has effectively taken over the world of sports clothing and footwear since then.
The Adidas ZX Flux trainer originates from designs dating back to the 1980s. The ZX series is an extensive range within Adidas, with ZX Flux being the most recent, 22nd edition to the range. They have a grippy outsole which means the trainers can be worn easily for sport, and the moulded heel cage provides extra support and comfort.
These trainers are also very fashionable, with a textured upper and tonal laces giving each shoe a unique look. The uppers can also be personally customised, making your trainers truly unique. These shoes are the perfect mix of both fashion and sportswear; a must-have for any fashion conscious men who still like to stay in shape.
Nike Roshe
Nike Roshe is a truly unique design from the famous sportswear brand. Nike was founded in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports, and officially became Nike seven years later in 1971. Now Nike is one of the biggest sports brand worldwide, selling sports equipment, clothing, accessories and footwear.
Nike Roshe is a recent trainer launch from Nike, that combines a fashionable shoe with practical sportswear. The trainer was designed with a focus on zen, and the name comes from the word ‘Roshi’ – which means zen master. This is because Nike wanted the shoe to be a simple design, a unique running silhouette without many of the complications and add on’s many running shoes have.
Although the Nike Roshe trainer was originally designed as a running shoe, it is still very fashionable. The thin textured upper means it can be worn with or without socks, and is often more suited to casual wear because of the simplistic design. Of the three, Nike Roshe probably places as more of a fashionable trainer than a sports shoe – however you can still take them out for a run every now and then.
