With our On the Road campaign taking the highway, we couldn’t help but start planning our next holiday. What should you pack for a road trip? What are the essentials to pack for men? Here we go through your suitcase must-haves and everything you need to pack for a road trip.
An Overnight Bag
A road trip usually means you’re packing light, and you don’t want to be that guy whos taking up all the boot space with your massive suitcase. Buy a reliable overnight bag that’s sturdy to keep your essentials safe.
A pair of sunglasses is a must. Especially if you’re driving. Sunglasses are so small they are easily forgotten, but they can become the most important item you pack and definitely the one you’ll miss the most when that sun glare makes it difficult to see. We hope your road trip takes you to sunnier weather, so always remember your sunglasses just in case.
If you’re sitting in a car for a long time then you need to be comfortable, a pair of shorts is the answer. Comfy, freeing and they don’t take too much room in your overnight bag, shorts are therefore a must for any road trip.
A Lightweight Jacket
Its always important to prep for unexpected weather. That’s why, even if you’re certain it’s going to be hot, we recommend taking one waterproof jacket – just in case. A windbreaker is perfect for the occasion as they’re lightweight and will easily fit in your bag.
Do you need dress shoes on a road trip? Maybe. But if you’re packing light it can seem a little silly to pack your entire shoe collection. The alternative is a pair of smart chukka boots. You can wear these from day-to-night without looking out of place, meaning they’re very useful when you want to travel light.
It’s easy to forget the little accessories, but a baseball cap can become your most relied upon item on a road trip. Not only does it keep the sun out of your eyes while driving (please note this only happens if you wear it the right way round) but a baseball cap is a great cover for a bad hair day. And let’s face it, you might not always get to hit the showers on a road trip – meaning a baseball cap is your new must.
Black t-shirts are probably the most versatile piece of clothing you can go for on a road trip. They match with literally everything, can look smart or casual depending on the occasion, and will hide any sweat stains in case your car’s air conditioning decides it’s had enough. A few pairs of black t-shirts will make packing for a road trip simple.
