Product of the month – Ralph Lauren’s parka proves to be a good fit for any occasion.

Ralph Lauren RLX AC Down Ranger Parka Jacket Red

One of our stand out arrivals in the outerwear collection at Mainline Menswear is the new parka from Ralph Lauren. We are lucky to be one of only a select few retailers to be offering this special design and it is the first time we have been able to offer a product with the RLX features.

The RLX collection is an ultra-modern, graphic performance-driven set of designs. From dynamic fits and sophisticated styles to the most technologically advanced fabrics available, RLX proves to be the ultimate in functional luxury.

This line was first introduced as Ralph Lauren’s venture into golfing attire but designs like this brand new parka show us evidence that they are giving the off-shoot label a casual, fashion first new dimension as it combines with the style of established sibling RL Polo.

The coat itself is an extremely snug fitting parka styled jacket with a long profile, fur-lined hood and second to none insulating properties like all good designs in this style should. Coming in a patriot red colour, it is the perfect item to make a statement with and will become the key piece in many of your winter ensembles should you decide to invest.

Here is its technical breakdown:

– High stand up collar.

– Velcro-fastened straps on the cuffs with ribbed inners for added insulation.

– Adjustable waistline for fit.

-Signature RLX black leather logo attached to chest pocket.

-100% nylon construction giving great durability.

Ralph Lauren has been growing into the established lifestyle brand it is today since 1967 and the corporation has a number of sub-brands which it uses to create different styles of contemporary and classic clothing, these include Ralph Lauren Polo, RLX, Sport, Black, Denim and many more. The incredible story behind the brand we know today is one that started with expertise in creating men’s ties. Once the ambitious founder Ralph Lifshitz managed to set up his own collection inside the prestigious Bloomingdale’s department store his label has gone from strength to strength ever since.

The Look

Traditionally a parka jacket is quite a heavyweight type of jacket and it has both military and Mod style connotations. Ralph Lauren’s version of this jacket seems to evade those qualities though and that is partly due to the advanced technological features as well as the sporty nature of the label. Make no mistake about it though, this is a tough and very warm winter jacket that could cut it in the most extreme of climates, it is not the type of coat designed simply to see you through the winter nor is it a piece they have created in response to the resurgence of parkas in fashion for menswear this year. This is instead a premium jacket made from the best materials available and it is designed to last for years as a timeless piece of outerwear.

It is an adaptable style which you will struggle to make look out of place in any outfit, the good thing about this “patriot red” number is that it is an eye-catching colour and whichever outfit you choose to wear it with you will find it always makes an impression. Jeans, tracksuits, t-shirts, jumpers, trainers or boots- there are no limitations to what you could combine this item with- this is an everyday winter staple.

Verdict: If you don’t mind being bold and you want to find the best way to mix fashion and function then this could be the answer you are looking for. Coming in at 605 pounds this is an investment rather than an impulsive purchase and it will keep you warm for years providing you take good care of it.
