Hoodies are great. This isn’t ground-breaking news, we know – but sometimes it’s nice to be reminded, because they are so often overlooked. The beauty of a hoodie really is as simple as its design also – they’re cosy, they’re lightweight and can be layered with just about anything to add a cool and casual flavour to any outfit.
So, to celebrate our love for hoodies, we’ve put together a couple ideas for styling them this season. Let’s get to it!
Styling a hoodie really is easy – and the hoodie under a jacket look is one of those simple, classic combos that just can’t be beat. So when it comes to utilising this for a specific season, it’s colour choice more than anything that’s going to nail it.
Earth tones are your friend here – layer a zip-up in olive green or burnt orange hoodie, like this Diesel zip hoodie, under a light brown or khaki jacket, like this Barbour bomber jacket with a dark blue pair of jeans and some boots and you have a perfect autumnal outfit.
Moving away from the earth tones, for another laid back outfit on a blustery day you can swap out the zip-up hoodie for a cosier pullover one, like this Ralph Lauren hoodie and layer it under something like this classic Levis trucker jacket.
You’ll want to stay away from blue denim for the trousers, so opt instead for some chinos in a beige or dark brown. You could even try something a little quirkier like these corduroy Levi 511’s in beige. Finish off with some trainers and you’re good to go.
With the hoodie being a classic piece of clothing that should be a staple in any man’s wardrobe, it’s no wonder that it works so well with other classic pieces. Take for example, the green army jacket – something like this Pretty Green jacket and layer it on top of a zip-up grey hoodie, like this grey marl Converse one for a casual outfit that isn’t too heavy on the layers for the slightly warmer days.
Keep it classic and pair them both with some black skinny jeans, like these skinny Levi 501’s for an outfit that while timeless, will still be perfect for the upcoming season!
